1.Reciprocity: A formalized and usually conditional agreement between states that allows the acceptance of concealed firearm permits and firearms possession within theses states respectively. States with formal reciprocity are as follows:
Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington State and West Virginia.
2. Recognition: An informal policy of recognizing another states concealed firearm permit by virtue of it’s validity in the state of issue. States that recognize Utah’s concealed firearm permit are as follows:
Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
3. States that DO NOT recognize Utah permits:
California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and South Carolina.

UTAH PERMIT INFORMATION:
In accordance with U.C.A. 76-10-523, Utah will honor a permit to carry a concealed firearm issued by another state or county.
Of the states below that have formalized reciprocity or recognition with Utah, there are some states that will only accept the Utah concealed firearm permit so long as the permit holder is a resident of Utah.
It is the responsibility of all Utah concealed firearm permit holders to know and understand the applicable firearm laws of the states within which they plan to visit or venture. For information regarding firearm laws of other states, please contact the respective authority within that state.
Utah’s Permit does NOT allow you to possess a pistol in New York State. You musthave a valid New York State Pistol Permit to possess a pistol in NYS.
* New York State residents can carry in 30+ out of the total 36 listed states under the UT permit. Colorado, Florida, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania accept the Utah permit ONLY if the permit holder is a Resident of the state of UTAH.
